At Vietnam Defence 2024, Viettel High Tech (VHT) not only introduced its latest defense technologies but also shared a deeper story—one that connects technology, people, and the mission to safeguard peace. Under the theme “Protect to Enable”, three flagship products were featured: unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), smart radar systems, and a military-grade 5G communications network. Each innovation demonstrates Vietnam’s mastery of core technologies and reflects a strategic vision for defense modernization and enhancing the country’s standing on the global stage.
At the center of the exhibition, VHT’s UAVs captured attention with their compact design and advanced integrated technologies. These drones are more than just unmanned aircraft—they are intelligent “eyes” that support military forces in surveillance, target detection, and precision positioning. UAV engineer Duong Dang Bach shared:
“We’re not just building flying machines—we’re creating battlefield companions. With AI, our UAVs can autonomously detect and identify targets, adapting in real-time to mission requirements.”
Viettel’s UAVs are designed for both military applications, such as long-range reconnaissance and strategic operations, and civil uses, including search and rescue and disaster monitoring. This adaptability exemplifies VHT’s mission to tailor solutions that serve national defense and contribute to social development—a philosophy rooted in empowering Vietnam through technology.
Radar – The Analytical Brain of Modern Warfare
If UAVs serve as the “eyes,” radar systems are the “brain”—processing vast volumes of battlefield data. Integrated with AI, VHT’s radar can identify critical targets among thousands of signals, reducing operator workload and accelerating decision-making.
“Today’s radar systems must be not only fast but also intelligent,” said a leading radar engineer from VHT. “We apply AI to distinguish military threats from civilian objects within milliseconds, enhancing combat effectiveness while conserving resources.”
Viettel’s radar technologies have been field-tested across various scenarios, from naval tracking to maritime air traffic control. AI algorithms analyze movement patterns to help commanders make swift and accurate decisions, improving defense readiness and reliability in complex operations.
The 5G military network acts as the backbone, linking UAVs, radar, and command centers with high-speed, secure, real-time data transmission. Decisions made in split seconds can optimize combat outcomes while minimizing risk and loss.
Nguyen Chi Linh, Deputy Director of the Broadband Wireless Center, emphasized:
“Information is the lifeblood of warfare. Our 5G network ensures not just superior speed but also the highest level of security, seamlessly connecting frontline operations to command centers.”
Designed for extreme environments—from deserts to dense forests—Viettel’s 5G technology supports not only military missions but also has potential applications in civil sectors, such as intelligent traffic control and infrastructure management.
All Viettel High Tech products are driven by a core philosophy: protection is not only for defense—it is to unlock development opportunities. Technologies like UAVs and radar help reduce the need for human presence in dangerous missions.
“In the past, soldiers had to face risks on the front lines,” Linh noted. “Today, they can control equipment from hundreds of kilometers away, improving operational effectiveness while protecting lives.”
In modern warfare, people are no longer just shields—they are at the heart of defense strategy. Operated via secure 5G networks, UAVs and radar systems ensure that critical decisions are made from safe locations, minimizing unnecessary sacrifice.
The connection between military technologies goes beyond hardware—it’s about the people behind them. Each VHT engineer represents Vietnam’s ingenuity and relentless pursuit of innovation. Their work is a testament to the company’s founding vision: “Innovation for Humanity.”
After years of dedicated research, Viettel engineers are now recognized not just as manufacturers, but as developers of core technologies—capable of overseeing every stage from design to production and full-system integration. Alongside the three spotlighted systems, more than 80 high-tech products are on display, covering Command and Control, Military Communications, Electro-Optics, Simulation Systems, Electronic Warfare, Aerospace, Cybersecurity, and Cyber Operations. All are developed entirely in Vietnam, meeting the highest global standards of security and performance.
Under the message “Protect to Enable”, VHT’s technologies are not just built for defense—they pave the way for growth and peace. The integration of UAVs, radar, and 5G into a unified combat system showcases the future of intelligent warfare—one that safeguards peace while fostering progress.
Vietnam Defence 2024 is a living testament to Viettel High Tech’s ability to master technology, drive innovation, and deliver on a strategic vision. These three flagship products represent the achievements of over 80 featured technologies, serving as symbols of the determination and ambition of a nation striving toward independence, self-reliance, and prosperity.
