At the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Defence Expo 2024, Viettel High Tech - the key industrial arm of Viettel Group specializing in high-tech defense solutions - officially received a certification from the Malaysian Army and Ministry of Defence. This certification affirms that Viettel’s military communication products meet the stringent standards required for supply to the Malaysian Army.
The certification handover took place at Viettel’s exhibition booth during the event. MIM Defense, Malaysia’s leading provider of advanced military systems and Viettel’s strategic partner, officially presented the certificate to Viettel High Tech.
Prior to this, Viettel’s military communication systems underwent extensive testing in Malaysia under harsh operational conditions. These tests were conducted by the Malaysian Army, a unit with substantial experience in evaluating military products to NATO standards from major global brands.
Viettel’s products not only passed all quality and performance evaluations but also outperformed competing systems in several critical parameters. Viettel High Tech also incorporated feedback from Malaysian experts to further optimize and adapt the products to client needs.
This certification is highly significant, reinforcing Viettel’s position in the international defense market, particularly in Malaysia, where awareness of Vietnam’s high-tech defense manufacturing capabilities had previously been limited. It also strengthens Vietnam-Malaysia defense cooperation and opens new business opportunities in the Malaysian market.
Military communication systems are just the starting point, laying the foundation for Viettel’s next offerings, such as radar, electro-optical systems, and electronic warfare solutions, to penetrate deeper into Malaysia.
Viettel integrates the latest global technologies to design and manufacture 4th and 5th generation military-grade wireless communication equipment. Viettel has mastered core technologies such as artificial intelligence and high-speed adaptive broadband communication, applying AI innovations to tactical networks.
Mr. Nguyễn Vũ Hà, CEO of Viettel High Tech, stated: “Our communication products are built to withstand harsh military environments, following the newest architecture standards for tactical information systems globally. I am confident that our solutions will fully meet the demands of the Malaysian market.”
Representing Malaysia, Mr. Badrul Hisham bin Ahmad Badarudin, Director of MIM Defense, said: “By the end of 2024, shortly after signing the strategic cooperation agreement, we collaborated with Viettel to test and evaluate several communication systems. Evaluations conducted by Malaysia’s Ministry of Defence confirmed Viettel’s full compliance with our standards. Moving forward, we will continue working with Viettel to deliver military equipment to the Malaysian market.”
Previously, in May 2024, during the Defence Services Asia (DSA) & National Security (NATSEC) Asia Exhibition, Viettel High Tech signed a strategic partnership agreement with MIM Defense, marking the beginning of joint international business development. This cooperation leverages the combined strengths of both companies to explore opportunities in local and global defense markets, particularly within Southeast Asia.
